ABOUT ME

Hi I’m Rebecca! I am a part-time therapist with Umbrella Psychological Services focused on children and adolescent mental health. I recently graduated with an MA in Psychology from Boston University, and I earned my BS in Psychology from the University of Dayton in 2025. I am passionate about working with children and adolescents and currently focus on treating ADHD, ASD, and social anxiety. I am also a current Behavior Technician with Champions ABA. My psychological research has focused on eating disorders, substance use, and sociopsychological behaviors in college students.

My therapeutic approach involves active listening, empathy, and assessing client motivation. I want to create a safe space for all clients where they can share anything without fear of judgment. I can connect well with current and younger generations and provide a relatable sense of support. I am a firm believer in CBT and positive reinforcement.

I believe that anyone can benefit from therapy, especially those navigating difficult life transitions in youth. Adolescence can be a difficult and transformative time, so I want to do all I can to help those in that period reach their full potential and tackle any challenges they encounter.

ABOUT ME

My name is Amanda Nealon (she/her). I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with over 20 years experience working with children, teens, and families.  I have a Master’s degree from Boston College and have been a licensed independent counselor with the state of Massachusetts since 2005.

I specialize in time-limited, cognitive behavioral therapy for children, teens, and adults but, over the years I have found significant value in being flexible rather than dogmatic.  By focusing on rapport, education, skills building, and individualized plans,  whether you want to be in therapy for a few years or a few months, you will experience growth and change, and together we will put you in a position to succeed.

CHILDREN AND TEENS

In my work with children and teens, I primarily use play therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, and insight-oriented talk therapy. A focus on emotional awareness, communication skills, and self- awareness creates the foundation for growth.  I also work to include parents in separate sessions and communicate with schools and other treatment professionals to create robust support systems.

PARENTS

It is difficult dealing with the rapidly changing needs of children and teenagers in a family. It is easy to get embroiled in power struggles, waves of anxiety, and stressful social narratives. To keep up with the seemingly impossible task of balancing the needs of yourself and your family, my role in parent therapy is to be your sounding board and helper. I will be your umbrella so that you can be theirs.

ADULTS

For adults who have non-parenting related needs, I have expertise in anxiety, depression, life changes, grief, and general talk therapy. We work together to create current solutions to what you are experiencing now, while also taking the time to unpack the underlying causes.
